CPD

CPD Requirements

The Pharmacy Board of Australia has guidelines for Continuing Professional Development for Pharmacists under Section 39 of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (2009). Pharmacists are required to complete 40 CPD credits for the 12 month period ending 30 September of each year.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia has been authorised by the Pharmacy Board of Australia to accredit providers of pharmacy CPD activities.

CPD Points:

  • Group One: information accessed without assessment, e.g. didactic lectures, conference attendance, or journal reading – (CPD = One CPD credit per hour of activity)
    NB Not more than 50% of the annual CPD credits can be claimed by undertaking Group 1 CPD activities
  • Group Two: knowledge or skills improved with assessment, e.g. attend or view an online lecture AND complete assessment, read journals AND complete assessment – (CPD = Two CPD credits per hour of activity)
  • Group Three: quality or practice-improvement facilitated, e.g. deliver education to peers and staff members, introduce a new (or improve existing) professional service in your pharmacy – (CPD = Three CPD credits per hour of activity)
