This qualification provides you with the next step in your career in community pharmacy. The SIR40216 - Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy Dispensary can further build your knowledge of key health conditions and product knowledge or develop new skills in dispensary, health or supervision. Tailored streams available include:

  • Dispensary: Recognise health body systems, assisting in managing pharmacy medicines and pharmacist only medicines, preparing dose administration aids, coordinating service to residential care facilities, supervising frontline team members
  • Management: Assisting in managing pharmacy medicines and pharmacist only medicines, coordinating pharmacy quality system, leading and developing pharmacy teams, implementing continuous improvement, supervising frontline team members
  • Health: Recognise healthy body systems, hire health care aids, blood pressure testing, blood glucose testing & services for diabetes management, asthma care aids

Course information:

The SIR40216 - Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy Dispensary consists of 9 core units and 5 electives. This course can be tailored to suit your learning requirements and career goals. Your Guild Trainer will work with you to develop a training plan to meet your needs and the needs of your pharmacy. Most Pharmacy Assistants complete the course in around 12 months.

As the SIR40216 - Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy Dispensary is a flexible course with rolling enrolments, you can start as soon as you are ready.

This qualification is available to Pharmacy Assistants currently working in a community pharmacy.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning is available for all qualifications. The RPL process acknowledges the skills and competencies gained from work experience, prior training and life experiences. Through RPL, competencies may be granted for specific units within community pharmacy qualifications, meaning some Pharmacy Assistants can finish their course earlier than expected.

How much will this qualification cost?

The cost of the course may be dependent on government funding. Under the New South Wales Government, User Choice funding is available for SIR40216 - Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy Dispensary. Eligible students can enrol for a subsidised price. Some students may come under concessional funding and pay a subsidised price.

User Choice funding for traineeships may also be available for new employees.

Full cost of course without government funding is $2,600 for member pharmacy and $3,380 for non-member pharmacy.
