Changes to Pharmacy Details

The NSW Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) seeks to reduce the social, economic, and health harms associated with opioid use1.

It is a two-step process for community pharmacies seeking to update their details as registered OTP pharmacies.

Step 1: Notify the NSW Ministry of Health

The NSW Ministry of Health manages the registration and approval of NSW community pharmacies to supply methadone or buprenorphine (including buprenorphine-naloxone) under the NSW OTP. Re-registration to supply pharmacotherapy under the OTP is required under the following circumstances:

  • change in ownership (new proprietors or partners);
  • change in the trading name of the pharmacy;
  • addition of a drug (methadone or buprenorphine, as applicable)

Further information, including the application form for completion is available at: http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/pharmaceutical/pharmacists/Pages/otp-pharmacists.aspx

Step 2: Notify The Pharmacy Guild of Australia (NSW Branch)

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia (NSW Branch) administers the Pharmacy Incentive Scheme, which is fully funded by the NSW Ministry of Health.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia (NSW Branch) will contact your pharmacy following notification that there have been recent changes to your pharmacy under the NSW OTP. This will include ensuring that your current contact and banking details are in our records.
