SIR40116 - Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy

Students can learn:

This qualifications provides you with the next step in your career in community pharmacy. The Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy can further build your knowledge of key health conditions and product knowledge or develop new skills in dispensary or supervision. Tailored streams available include:

  • Management: Maintaining employee relations, manage pharmacy premises, equipment and merchandise, build customer relationships and loyalty, implement continuous improvement, plus more.
  • Health: Recognise healthy body systems, wound care, continence management, vitamins, minerals and supplements, plus more.
  • Or tailor the Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy by choosing units to help you build your future in community pharmacy, your way. Units can include: Dispensary, pregnancy and maternal health,  diet, nutrition and weight management, sleep apnoea, plus many more.

Course information:

The Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy consists of 3 core units and 11 electives. This course can be tailored to suit your learning requirements and career goals. Your Guild Trainer will work with you to develop a training plan to meet your needs and the needs of your pharmacy. Most Pharmacy Assistants complete the course in around 12 months.

As the Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy is a flexible course with rolling enrolments, you can start as soon as you are ready.

To undertake a Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy, you are required to:

  • Have achieved the Certificate III in Community Pharmacy, or
  • Have relevant industry employment experience as a community pharmacy assistant in a job role that has involved the application of skills and knowledge described in core units of competency from SIR30116 - Certificate III in Community Pharmacy, and
  • Have a statement of attainment in the unit SIRCIND002 - Support the supply of Pharmacy Medicine and Pharmacy Only Medicines.

This qualification is available to Pharmacy Assistants currently working in a community pharmacy.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning is available for all qualifications. The RPL process acknowledges the skills and competencies gained from work experience, prior training and life experiences. Through RPL, competencies may be granted for specific units within community pharmacy qualifications, meaning some Pharmacy Assistants can finish their course earlier than expected.

How much will this qualification cost?

There are a number of options available when enrolling into SIR40116 - Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy training including government funding under the Northern Territory User Choice Funding Agreement.

User Choice funding

User Choice funding is available for SIR40116 - Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy for new employees (three months full time, twelve months part time) to undertake this qualification under a traineeship. Eligibility criteria applies for User Choice funding. Fee contributions are generally required. Contact us for further information regarding costs and eligibility.

Fee For Service

Students also have the option of paying for the full cost of the training for $2,500 for member pharmacy and $3,500 for non-member pharmacy.

Where a student is paying for the course fees, Guild Training will not collect more than $1500 in pre-paid fees.
