Training requirements
Pharmacists are required to successfully complete additional education and training through an accredited education provider to participate in the Queensland Community Pharmacy Scope of Practice Pilot.
Pharmacists who are already enrolled will be completing their training through either one or two providers, depending upon their start date, to satisfy the pilot training requirements These are the prescribing component and clinical practice component.
For pharmacists undertaking training from January 2025 onwards, there is one education provider currently offering the full accredited training:
Training commitment
Pharmacists interested in completing the training should be prepared to commit to approximately six months of training in order to complete the course.
Currently, a complete training package is only available through James Cook University, so the following is only a guide of what to expect. Other providers may come to market and have slightly different requirements.

Training Subsidy
The Australasian College of Pharmacy has been engaged by Queensland Health to manage the distribution of the training subsidy. As the funding distributor, the College will administer training subsidy amounts up to the value of $7,000 per eligible student.
