Palliative care education & training

Education in palliative care can support you and your pharmacy team to provide more compassionate, informed, and comprehensive care to patients with life-limiting illnesses.
The Department of Health and Aged Care fund a number of organisations to produce resources and deliver education and training programs for health and aged care workers. These resources and programs focus on palliative care skills and competencies including:

  • the principles of palliative care
  • end-of-life care
  • ethical and legal issues
  • communication skills
  • psychosocial and spiritual issues
  • identifying and controlling symptoms
  • multidisciplinary care and teamwork.
