Required Updates for Approved Immunising Pharmacists

Approved Immunising Pharmacists are required to maintain currency of their:

  • CPR Certificate (12 months expiry)
  • First Aid Certificate  (3 years expiry)
  • ASCIA Anaphylaxis Certificate (12 months expiry)
  • Annual Immunisation Update Online Module (12 months expiry)
  • Influenza Module (12 months expiry)

1) CPR Certificate has 12 months expiry.

CPR Certificate HLTAID009 needs to be current and must be renewed through a First Aid training provider.

2) First Aid Certificate has 3 years expiry.

First Aid Certificate HLTAID011 needs to be renewed through a First Aid training provider.

3) ASCIA Anaphylaxis has 12 month expiry.

4) Annual Immunisation Update Online Module

Pharmacist immunisers are required to complete an annual immunisation update module to meet competencies as listed in the SASA.

The module provides updated information on all aspects of immunisation and enhances immunisation knowledge. The update is comprised of 4 modules and will take approximately 4 hours to complete.

It may be completed over multiple sessions

How to access the module:

The annual update can be accessed via the WA Health  Immunisation Education website:

  1. Access the Registration Form here
  2. Select ‘Immunisation Update – Annual’
  3. Training requests will be responded to within 5 working days via an email from Rise Education inviting users to ‘Accept an Invite’ to complete the training
  4. Once ‘Accept an Invite’ is selected, users will have 2 weeks to complete the training
  5. Users will need to create an account with Rise at first log-in. The required fields include a password, first name, last name and ticking the ‘Consent to use of personal information…’ box
  6. Upon successful log-in, select ‘Browse Library’ and select Immunisation Annual Update under the Topics heading
  7. Users must complete the module and obtain a copy of the certificate. It is important to save a PDF copy of the certificate as the account is deleted after 2 weeks
  8. Please NOTE: The entire process must be repeated to register again (if the module is not completed within 2 weeks of accepting an invite)

5) Influenza Online Module

The influenza module has been developed by the Communicable Disease Control Directorate (CDCD) and WA Health, to support immunisation providers undertake an annual refresher in this topic and provides up-to-date information on influenza immunisation.

  • The Influenza Module update is available around March or April every year.
  • This module should take approximately 2 hours to complete.
  • You are required to complete the final assessment with a passing score of 80%.
  • Upon successful completion of the assessment, please ensure you print out and retain your certificate for evidence of completion.

How to Complete the Influenza Training Module

The Influenza Module can be accessed by completing a Registration Form with the WA Department of Health:

  1. Access the Registration Form here
  2. Please select/tick to complete the ‘Influenza Module’
  3. Training requests will be responded to within 3 working days via an email from Rise inviting users to ‘Accept an Invite’ to complete the immunisation training
  4. Once ‘Accept an Invite’ is selected, users will have 2 weeks to complete the training
