Conference convenor, Kos Sclavos AM, proudly announces the release of the official program for the 2025 Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference and Trade Exhibition (APP2025).

“This year’s theme, ‘Unlocking Your Opportunities,’ reflects the evolving landscape of community pharmacy,” said Mr Sclavos. “APP2025 will equip delegates to embrace the changes ahead and transform ideas into action.”

Held from 19-22 March 2025 on the Gold Coast, APP is the largest pharmacy conference in the southern hemisphere, attracting close to 7,000 industry professionals each year. • clinical pharmacy,
  • product updates,
  • rural pharmacy and indigenous health,
  • harm minimisation,
  • early career pharmacists,
  • cultural engagement, and
  • professional.

“What makes APP unique is the breadth of opportunities it offers,” Mr Sclavos remarked. “From professional development and CPD credits to insights on innovation and emerging trends, APP2025 has it all."

Program highlights

The APP2025 program kicks off with the Opening Plenary, where participants will reflect on key milestones from the past year, hear about The Guild’s strategic priorities, and celebrate excellence in community pharmacy through industry awards.
Mr Sclavos recalled a key moment from the 2024 conference: “The Opening Plenary was where we first learned about the historic Heads of Agreement between The Guild and the Albanese Labor Government, securing the Eighth Community Pharmacy Agreement (8CPA).”

The highly anticipated Alan Russell Oration and State of the Industry Panel return to the program. “These sessions are always highlights," said Mr Sclavos. "The Oration offers deep industry insights, while the State of the Industry Panel provides a pulse check on emerging trends and key developments.”

Keynote speakers for APP2025 include Jelena Dokic, former world-number four tennis player, who will share insights on resilience and thriving through adversity, and Dr. Ben Bravery, a former zoologist turned doctor, known for his unique journey into medicine and patient advocacy.

Workshops and networking

APP2025 will kick off on Wednesday 19 March, with pre-conference workshops covering practical topics such as full scope of practice and immunisation. "These workshops provide a great opportunity for hands-on learning and earning CPD credit," said Mr Sclavos.

Networking remains a cornerstone of APP2025, with social events designed to foster meaningful connections. Highlights include the Welcome Reception on Thursday night, the Women’s Networking Lunch and Pharmacy Assistants Networking Lunch, and the ‘Country Hoedown’ Street Party to close out the event on Saturday night.

“APP2025’s social program offers the perfect chance for delegates to unwind, connect with peers, and explore new opportunities,” noted Mr Sclavos.

"The Gold Coast is growing and transforming into one of the nation's most vibrant business events destinations, and events such as APP2025 continue to grow our credentials and create lasting legacies for the city," said Brooke Campbell, Director of Business Events for Experience Gold Coast.
