Guild unveils consult room at community pharmacy’s flagship event

A full-scale consult room will be unveiled at the Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s stand at the Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference and Trade Exhibition (APP) in March.

Clinical Governance Chair and Pharmacy Guild of Australia National Councillor, Natalie Willis, said seeing a best in class consult room will inspire community pharmacists to invest in the pharmacy of the future and expand the range of patient services.

“Community pharmacists are critical in the delivery of primary health care as a convenient and accessible healthcare location.

“We want to inspire pharmacists to visualise how they can benefit from well-designed consult rooms which enhance patient experience and enable pharmacists to deliver services in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.”

The to-scale design will demonstrate how a community allowing clinical examination of a patient. Consult rooms support community pharmacists to practice to full scope, equipping them with the space they need to provide a wider range of patient care services and exceed patient expectations

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia will also launch a range of consult room resources, including best practice guides and regulatory requirements.

“Our goal is to support pharmacies in their journey to deliver safe, high-quality, care,” Ms Willis, a practising community pharmacist from Perth, said.

“With the right consult room setup, pharmacies can cater to a diverse range of patients and their healthcare needs, from vaccinations to more complex patient-focussed clinical services. The consult room at APP is just the beginning, and we’re excited to help community pharmacies plan, build, and upgrade their spaces.”

Experts will attend the stand during the conference to answer questions community pharmacists might have about consult rooms. Phil Chapman from Lease One will talk about Leveraging your lease with Scope of Practice and Kylie Birkinshaw from the Guild will answer questions about Getting Started with Consult Rooms and Scope of Practice.

Three lucky attendees will win a stethoscope each, provided by Team Medical Supplies, to support their full scope training and practice. Guild members will be able to access exclusive deals on furniture and equipment by ordering through Team Medical Supplies in collaboration with Gold Cross.
