The Pharmacists’ Support Service (PSS) has launched a website designed to be a valuable and trusted repository of information for pharmacists, pharmacy interns and students, and one which will support their health and wellbeing.
President of PSS John Coppock said: “We aim to provide trustworthy resources, links and information on a wide range of topics which relate to managing the various pressures and stress which come from working in pharmacy. We hope that this will be a useful source of information for members of the profession who want to prioritise their wellbeing.”
Mr Coppock said the new website was made possible by funding from the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
“While AHPRA and the Pharmacy Board aim to protect the public, they also have an interest in pharmacist wellbeing as healthy pharmacists provide care for their communities competently,” he said.
“This funding from the Pharmacy Board enabled PSS to engage a website and social media manager to develop a new website and build our social media engagement.
“The PSS website is a work in progress and development of new resources on pharmacy relevant topics will continue.
“PSS represents all the major pharmacy membership organisations when it comes to the health and wellbeing of pharmacists. These organisations have entrusted PSS with the task of supporting the wellbeing of the Australian pharmacy profession.”
PSS, which is proudly supported by the Guild, is a charity which focuses on the mental health and wellbeing of the Australian pharmacy profession.
The PSS telephone is answered by volunteers, who are all experienced pharmacists or retired pharmacists, who have undertaken training in crisis support counselling. The service is available to all pharmacists, interns, students, overseas pharmacy graduates seeking registration in Australia and during the COVID-19 pandemic to all pharmacy staff.
PSS provides anonymous and confidential support over the phone every day of the year between 8.00am and 11.00pm AEST by phoning 1300244910.
