The head of the nation’s vaccine task force, Lieutenant General John Frewen, chose a community pharmacy for his COVID booster dose.
Hosted by ACT Branch President Simon Blacker at Erindale Pharmacy, General Frewen encouraged anyone due for their booster to book an appointment.
He said with the community pharmacy sector involved, there was plenty of choice of venues to receive the booster dose.
Lieutenant General Frewen said: “You can get on the site now and get yourself booked in ahead of time. But you can also do walk-ins. I went to a community pharmacy and that was just fantastic – they’re pumping people through. So there’s a lot of convenience out there as well.”
In further interviews, the Co-ordinator-General said: “I went and had my Moderna in a community pharmacy. So you can get Pfizer, you can get Moderna now. There’s lots of choice and I really do encourage people to get out there and get it done.”
Asked specifically about his in-pharmacy experience, he said: “I went to a community pharmacy; they were doing great work. I was very impressed with the staff. They had people coming through in droves, so it was great to see.”
The community pharmacy sector continues to work with the Co-ordinator-General to meet rising demand for booster, child and immunocompromised vaccinations against COVID-19.
