The Australian Patients Association’s latest Australian Healthcare Index reinforces that many Australians are finding medicines unaffordable.
The index is an important ongoing tracking study produced by the Australian Patients Association and HealthEngine. It provides a pulse check on healthcare in Australia from patients’ perspectives and experiences.
The report provides learnings across the public and private healthcare ecosystem with primary and preventative care, private health insurance, emergency departments, elective surgery, prescription medicine and more.
Thew latest index shows:
- 24 per cent of respondents said that prescription medicines were not affordable.
- 62 per cent of respondents were taking prescription medicines.
- 53 per cent of respondents were in favour of the North Queensland trial where pharmacists can diagnose selected conditions: trial.
- 67 per cent of people were in favour of children being vaccination against COVID-19.
- 67 per cent of people intended to get the flu vaccine.
