Infectious Diseases Physician and Ambassador for Health Reform, Dr Nick Coatsworth, will be providing this year’s Pharmacy Connect delegates with an update on primary health care reform and how pharmacists can be a part of this.
Dr Coatsworth is an expert in health policy and public administration and held a national role in the Australian response to COVID-19 as Deputy Chief Medical Officer. In February this year, Dr Coatsworth joined the Australian Patients Association (APA) as Ambassador for Health Reform.
Pharmacy Connect Convenor and former Guild National President, Kos Sclavos AM, said that the inclusion of Dr Coatsworth complements a diverse conference program offering delegates industry updates, business advice, full scope of practice insights and clinical updates.
“Pharmacists will be very familiar with Dr Coatsworth from his role as Deputy Chief Health Officer during the pandemic,” Mr Sclavos said.
“In his role at APA, Dr Coatsworth has vowed to ensure that the voice of patients is heard by government and policymakers as they tackle system reform”.
“All pharmacists should be aware of what patient advocacy activities are taking place, what is being proposed for patient rights within the Australian healthcare system, and how they can be involved moving forward.”
Pharmacy Connect, an annual conference hosted by The Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s New South Wales Branch, is taking place 31 August – 2 September 2023 at the Hyatt Regency Sydney.
In 2023, the event will be held in conjunction with the Pharmacy Assistant National Conference, an annual Pharmacy Guild events for pharmacy assistants. The two events will share a 50-plus stand trade exhibition and social functions including the Welcome Reception and Cocktail Party.
Pharmacy Connect is open to all levels of pharmacy, from pharmacists, pharmacy managers, pharmacy staff and group executives, to interns and students.
