There’s a new team to lead NAPSA, the National Australian Pharmacy Students’ Association following its annual general meeting earlier this month in Melbourne.

Bano Serhan from New South Wales has been elected President leading an also newly elected executive team.

Miss Serhan is a third-year student at the University of Newcastle studying a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) and takes over the role from Mr Flynn Swift.

“It is a privilege to be elected as the 2023/24 President along side such a highly qualified and dedicated team of Executive Directors,” she said.

“I am very excited to work with the Board to continue advancing the excellent work that NAPSA does for our members.”

She leads a team of six other freshly elected executive members including:

  • Sebastian Harper (Griffith University, Gold Coast)
  • Gage Ede (James Cook University, Townsville)
  • Shylee-Jade Hader-Pagilari (James Cook University, Townsville)
  • Harrison Vo (University of Sydney, Sydney)
  • McKinley Nolan (University of Tasmania, Hobart)
  • Ingrid Stroud (University of Canberra, Canberra)

The Pharmacy Guild’s National President, Trent Twomey has congratulated NAPSA’s new President and Executive on their election.

“My time as NAPSA President in 2004 was extremely rewarding and I know some of the challenges the executive team will face.

“NAPSA has a very significant role to play in laying the groundwork for students and their careers in community pharmacy,” he said.

Immediate past President Flynn Swift also congratulated Miss Serhan and her new Board.

“I am confident that Bano and her newly elected team will be able to achieve great things for NAPSA and I step down knowing that the Association is in good hands,” he said.
