Capital Chemist Southlands in the ACT has been named as the 2024 Care Pharmaceuticals Guild Pharmacy of the Year. Announced at last week’s APP Conference on the Gold Coast, the award celebrates the pharmacy's outstanding service and dedication to their patients.
Louise McLean, co-owner and pharmacist at Capital Chemist Southlands, expressed her delight at the recognition, highlighting it as a testament to the quality of her pharmacy team.
"This is an incredible achievement for our team, and it’s confirmation our team is as awesome as we know they are," she said.
In addition to winning the overall award, Capital Chemist Southlands was awarded category winner in the Business Management category. Stacey Fuller, pharmacist and co-owner accepted the award on behalf of their staff, saying that staff "bring compassion and kindness to the workplace.”
The three other category prizes were awarded to:
- Amcal+ Pharmacy Emerton in New South Wales, named the winner of the Community Engagement category.
- A new category in 2024 for Harm Minimisation was also awarded to Amcal+ Pharmacy Emerton.
- Narrabri Pharmacy, also in New South Wales, which took out the Professional Innovation award.
Professor Trent Twomey, National President of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, praised all nominees and winners for their commitment to excellence in patient care.
The awards underscore the vital role of pharmacies in delivering comprehensive health services and advancing the profession through innovation.
