The Pharmacy Guild of Australia has extended its congratulations to the newly elected leadership team of the National Australian Pharmacy Students’ Association (NAPSA). The announcement follows NAPSA’s Annual General Meeting held in Adelaide over the weekend.
NAPSA President Sebastian Harper
Sebastian Harper, a third-year Bachelor of Pharmacy student at Griffith University, has been elected as the new National President. Harper, who previously served as NAPSA’s Treasurer, succeeds Bano Serhan. He will lead a board of seven Executive Directors, including:
- McKinley Nolan, University of Tasmania, Hobart
- Shylee-Jade Hadar-Pagliari, James Cook University, Cairns
- Benjamin Scott, University of Queensland, Brisbane
- Erin Fawcett, University of South Australia, Adelaide
- Mia Avram, Monash University, Melbourne
- Megan Potter, University of Tasmania, Hobart
- Aaliah Nelson, University of Queensland, Brisbane
Senior Vice President of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia Nick Panayiaris welcomed the new leaders and expressed his eagerness to collaborate with NAPSA to advance the pharmacy profession.
“Community pharmacy continues to face challenges in the Australian healthcare landscape, but despite these headwinds, the care they provide in cities and towns across the country is unwavering,” said Mr Panayiaris.
“It’s an exciting time to study pharmacy. Pharmacists are doing more for patients than ever before. The Guild and NAPSA will continue to work closely to advance opportunities for the sector and ensure the next generation of pharmacy students are ready to embrace the evolving pharmacy landscape.”
Mr Panayiaris also thanked the outgoing Board and President for their dedication and achievements over the past year. He highlighted the significant accomplishment of introducing complementary NAPSA membership for all students, a move that will revitalise membership and bring new energy and expertise to the association.
“Bano and her Board secured an extraordinary win for pharmacy students by introducing complementary NAPSA membership for all students. Thanks to this, a renewed wave of membership, expertise, and enthusiasm is being ushered in. The fruits of this achievement will be felt for years to come,” he said.
The Guild looks forward to supporting the new NAPSA leadership as they steer the organisation toward a promising future for pharmacy students across Australia.
