Pre-conference workshops
The event kicks off on 19 March with three pre-conference workshops designed to provide valuable learning opportunities:
APP attendees at a workshop
- Immunisation course: Delivered by the Australasian College of Pharmacy, this course provides vaccinator qualification CPD credits. Participants will gain insights into immunisation in Australia, regulatory requirements, and practical skills in safe injection techniques.
- Full scope of practice: This two-part workshop includes a 90-minute refresher on administering specific injectable medicines, along with an update on the Full Scope of Practice.
- Transforming the future of pharmacy: Embracing change and innovation: Hosted by CommBank Health, this exclusive workshop - part of the Pharmacy Owners Masterclass Series - explores strategies for enhancing pharmacy business performance, delivering innovative services, and improving operational efficiency.
Highlight sessions
APP2025 truly comes to life with the two full days of conference sessions covering a wide range of topics.
- The event will begin with the Opening Plenary, where participants will reflect on key milestones from the past year, hear about the Guild's strategic priorities, and celebrate excellence in community pharmacy through the Guild Pharmacy of the Year, Pharmacy Assistant of the Year and Intern of the Year awards. This session will set the tone for the conference, highlighting the significant achievements and future goals of the community pharmacy sector.
- The following speakers are sure to inspire and motivate. Jelena Dokic, a former world-number four tennis player, will share her journey of resilience and thriving through adversity. Her session, titled "Fearless - finding the power to thrive," will delve into her experiences on and off the court, including overcoming personal challenges and mental health struggles. Layne Beachley, a surfing legend, will present a dynamic session on unlocking a winning mindset by introducing practical strategies for personal and professional achievement, focusing on preventing burnout and building resilience.
- Jeff Harrell, the National President of NCPA (USA), will lead a panel session on how community pharmacy can strengthen their primary care role through precision health. This session will showcase diagnostic devices that support pharmacists in playing an enhanced role in primary care. Additionally, Harrell will deliver a keynote address on the challenges faced by pharmacy in the USA and lessons for Australian community pharmacy.
- Doug Hoey, President of the World Pharmacy Council, will present a keynote address on the global community pharmacy scene. He will discuss why some global giants are failing and what the key to success is, emphasising the importance of pharmacists providing quality use of medicines information and systems to increase medication compliance.

As always, networking will be an important aspect of APP2025, with social events designed to build meaningful connections, and just have fun. Highlights include:
