Community pharmacies continue to evolve into primary healthcare destinations, and well-designed consult rooms are a core aspect of this transformation. As pharmacists engage with, and prepare for, further scope of practice reforms, investing in fit-for-purpose consult rooms is fundamental to delivering a broader range of clinical services efficiently, safely and professionally.
That's why at APP2025, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia is bringing this vision to life with a full-scale consult room model on display at its stand. This prototype space is designed to inspire and inform pharmacists about how to integrate high-quality consultation areas into their pharmacies—whether upgrading existing facilities or planning a new fit-out.

There is no one-size-fits-all rule for how many consult rooms a pharmacy should have, and not every pharmacy is required to have one. However, pharmacies planning to deliver more services than they previously have need appropriate spaces to conduct consultations.
The right setup depends on your pharmacy’s layout, building restrictions, and service offering. From minor ailment consultations to vaccinations and chronic disease management, the consult room will be located separately to the shop floor. It must be private, sound-proof and have all the necessary storage and equipment for the services offered.

The APP prototype room demonstrates a mid-tier setup, ideal for pharmacies that want to go beyond basic vaccination services and incorporate a full scope of practice approach. It will feature purpose-built furniture, storage solutions and pharmacy-grade equipment, reflecting best-in-class design that enhances workflow efficiency, patient privacy and clinical functionality.

Experts will be in attendance at the stand during the conference to answer questions about consult room design. Phil Chapman from Lease One will talk about Leveraging your lease with Scope of Practice and Kylie Birkinshaw from the Guild’s Queensland branch will answer questions about Getting Started with Consult Rooms and Scope of Practice.
Three lucky attendees will win a stethoscope each, provided by Team Medical Supplies, to support their full scope training and practice. Guild members will be able to access exclusive deals on furniture and equipment by ordering through Team Medical Supplies in collaboration with Gold Cross.
