3 May 2024

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia National President, Professor Trent Twomey, has encouraged anyone wishing tonominate an outstanding pharmacy assistant for The Pharmacy Guild of Australia/Maxigesic Pharmacy Assistant ofthe Year Award (PATY) 2024 to act quickly as third-party nominations are closing next week, Friday 10 May.

PATY is the premier award for Australian pharmacy assistants and is now in its 18th year. It recognises and celebrates the 'best of the best' in community pharmacy.

Professor Twomey said he would hate anyone to miss out on having their efforts recognised.

"With third-party nominations closing next week, I would hate for anyone to miss out," said Professor Twomey. "As a pharmacy owner, I understand the significance of acknowledging and appreciating the efforts of our staff. Through PATY, pharmacy owners, managers, and pharmacists can nominate a deserving pharmacy assistant or colleague for their valuable contributions," stated Professor Twomey.

"The award prizes are also a fantastic incentive to nominate colleagues," Professor Twomey said.

"The state winners receive access to exclusive training and development sessions, return flights and accommodation for the National Judging Workshop on 5 September in Sydney, complimentary registration to the Pharmacy Assistant (PA) National Conference (5-7 September), an invitation to be a judge in their respective PATY2025 state workshops, as well as recognition in national industry publications," said Professor Twomey.

"The national winner receives a cash prize of $5,000, complimentary registration, return flights and accommodation for attendance at APP2025 and PA205 and an invitation to participate in the 2025 National Judging Workshop."

Professor Twomey also said that the nomination process is simple and straightforward.

"It is very quick and easy to nominate someone," said Professor Twomey, "it only takes a few minutes of filling out a form online."
